Your Questions Answered
We've compiled answers to the questions we hear most often. If you don't find what you're looking for, our team is always ready to assist you personally.
How long does a custom order take to complete?
Each piece is meticulously handcrafted to order. Production time varies based on complexity:
- Standard portraits (single subject): 3-4 weeks
- Complex portraits (multiple subjects, detailed backgrounds): 5-6 weeks
- Large-scale art reproductions: 6-8 weeks
This timeframe includes the design approval process. We recommend ordering at least 8 weeks before special occasions to ensure timely delivery.
What information do I need to provide for my custom portrait?
To create your perfect portrait, we'll need:
- High-quality photos: Clear, well-lit images showing facial features (for people/pets) or full details of your subject
- Size preference: Our standard sizes range from 20x20cm to 60x60cm
- Style direction: Let us know if you prefer realistic, impressionistic, or stylized rendering
- Color preferences: Any specific color requests or palettes
- Background choice: Simple, textured, or specific scene
- Special details: Include meaningful accessories, toys, or specific expressions
Our design team will guide you through the selection process after you place your order.
Can I rush my order for a special occasion?
Yes, we offer expedited production:
- Priority processing: 2-week completion (+$85)
- Express processing: 10-day completion (+$150)
- Overnight shipping: Available worldwide (+$45-£95)
Note: Rush fees are in addition to standard production costs. Availability depends on current studio workload. Contact us before ordering to confirm rush slot availability for your deadline.
Can you recreate any image in crochet form?
Our artists excel at transforming a wide range of images into beautiful crochet art, including:
- Pet portraits (dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc.)
- Human portraits (individuals, couples, families, children)
- Anime/game characters (as fan art, non-commercial)
- Famous paintings (public domain works only)
- Landscapes and nature scenes
We cannot reproduce copyrighted material (logos, branded content) without permission. For complex requests, we'll evaluate the image and discuss possibilities during the design phase.
What makes your custom portraits different from prints or digital art?
Our crochet portraits offer unique qualities that set them apart:
- Tactile dimension: Each piece has physical texture and depth that changes with lighting
- Artisan craftsmanship: Every stitch is placed by hand with intention
- Emotional resonance: The handmade nature conveys warmth and personal connection
- Durability: Properly cared for, heirloom-quality pieces last generations
- Unique interpretation: Artists translate photos into textile art, capturing essence beyond likeness
- 3D elements: We can incorporate raised elements for noses, flowers, or other details
Unlike mass-produced items, each piece is a one-of-a-kind work of art.
What materials do you use? Are they eco-friendly?
We prioritize quality and sustainability:
- Yarn: Premium cotton/acrylic blends from ethical European suppliers
- Colorfastness: All materials rated for 7+ on the Blue Wool Scale
- Backing: Acid-free museum board for preservation
- Packaging: 100% recycled and recyclable materials
- Framing: Sustainably sourced oak with non-toxic finishes
Our studio follows zero-waste practices - yarn scraps become stuffing for pet beds donated to animal shelters. We're proud to hold the Eco-Certified Artisan certification.
